Abstract
An experimental arrangement is described for observing the images of c rystal plates in diffracted light. Diffraction occurs due to changes o f the optical properties of the crystal induced by striations. The col our observed for a certain region of the crystal is a sensitive measur e of the dominant striation spacing. Examples demonstrate effects due to power-line fluctuations, stationary growth, cores, and interface in stabilities.
