Abstract
Single crystals of BaLiF3 doped with different concentrations of Ni2and Co2+ and exhibiting good optical quality were grown from the melt using the Czochralski technique. The preparation and growth conditions are reported. Spectroscopic characterization of these materials indic ates that this matrix doped with Ni2+ or Co2+ is a promising laser-act ive medium in the spectral region of 1.5 mu m.
