Abstract
Ln the case of precipitational crystallization, the particle size dist ribution of the resulting product is greatly influenced by the mixing rate of the system. We have worked out a method of characterizing the mixing of precipitated suspensions by applying a function of mean resi dence time and particle size distribution. For the experiments a preci pitated suspension of beta-lactam-type antibiotic has been used in a m echanically stirred tank.
