C. Gallaway et L. Jones, BOW VIDEO TECHNOLOGY IS USED BY DEAF AND HEARING-IMPAIRED SERVICES INTHE UK, Journal of the British Association of Teachers of the Deaf, 20(5), 1996, pp. 134-147
As part of a project designed to assist teachers of deaf children and
young people to improve and broaden their use of video technology, a q
uestionnaire was distributed amongst Heads of Hearing Impaired Service
s and Schools in the UK at their conference (NCHHISS). The ultimate br
oad aim of the questionnaire was To identify services and individuals
who were able and willing to share helpful information about their exp
eriences with using video, as speakers at a one-day conference in July
, 1996. Specifically, questions included in the questionnaire focused
an the range of functions which video might perform within services an
d schools, what constraints teachers were experiencing in developing t
hese functions and what further resources and support teachers felt wo
uld be of most value to them. The results suggest that video technolog
y is bring used widely for a variety of functions but in many cases, h
igher levels of resource and support are needed for it to be used to i
ts full potential.
