Abstract
Earlier data on the synthesis, structure, and thermal properties of Pb SnF4 polymorphs are critically assessed. The conditions for hydrotherm al growth of alpha'-PbSnF4 are optimized, and platelike crystals measu ring 5 x 5 mm (notably larger than in previous works) are grown. The l attice parameters and space group of the crystals as well as the tempe rature of the alpha'-to-beta transition are determined.
