Abstract
The adsorption of lauric, myristic and stearic acids on rice hull ash (RHA) from isooctane as solvent was studied and conformed to a Langmui r isotherm. Monolayer coverage was determined to be 35.7 +/- 2.5, 43.5 +/- 2.2 and 36 +/- 5 mg/g, respectively. The free energy of adsorptio n, Delta G degrees, for the adsorption was determined to be -6.64, -6. 23 and -6.49 heal mol(-1) for the adsorbates, respectively. The equili brium parameter indicated that RHA is a good adsorbent for the three f atty acids examined.
