M. Sato et al., INSTABILITY IN ELECTROPHORETIC KARYOTYPE OF BREWING YEASTS, Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists, 52(4), 1994, pp. 148-151
In the course of studying karyotypes of brewing yeasts using pulsed-fi
eld gel electrophoresis, we found differences in chromosomal DNA bandi
ng patterns (e.g., chromosomal length-polymorphism) among some strains
from the same origins, especially in small chromosomal DNAs (chr. I,
VI, and III). Southern hybridization patterns with probes FL01 (chr. I
), ACT1 (chr. VT), and HIS4 (chr. III) suggested that the changes in c
hromosome length of these strains occurred during successive cultivati
on.
