Cd. Wieseman et al., ONLINE ANALYSIS CAPABILITIES DEVELOPED TO SUPPORT THE ACTIVE FLEXIBLEWING WIND-TUNNEL TESTS, Journal of aircraft, 32(1), 1995, pp. 39-44
A variety of on-line analysis tools were developed to support two acti
ve flexible wing (AFW) wind-tunnel tests. These tools were developed t
o verify control law execution, to satisfy analysis requirements of th
e control law designers, to provide measures of system stability in a
real-time environment, and to provide project managers with a quantita
tive measure of controller performance. Descriptions and purposes of c
apabilities that were developed are presented in this article along wi
th examples. Procedures for saving and transferring data for near real
-time analysis. and descriptions of the corresponding data interface p
rograms are also presented. Although much of the on-line analysis capa
bilities described herein are not technically new, the implementation
for near real-time analysis to verify and evaluate controller performa
nce is new, and is included in this special Journal if Aircraft issue
for completeness in describing the AFW mind-tunnel testing. The on-lin
e analysis tools worked well before, during, and after the wind-tunnel
tests, and proved to be a vital and important part of the entire test
effort.
