Abstract
This article discusses educational change from a system perspective. F ollowing 8 years of experience with a special education reform initiat ive, the article sets forth a series of assertions based on educationa l innovation in Iowa Generalizations are made from an experiential bas e regarding critical components and characteristics of the change proc ess. In addition, a series of specific recommendations are made for pe rsons contemplating educational innovation initiatives.
