Abstract
We report the results of our initial efforts to image photosynthetic p roteins using the near-field technique. Allophycocyanin trimers, which contains six chromophores each, were dispersed onto a glass cover sli p, and the fluorescence was imaged using a recently constructed near-f ield microscope. The results show that the emission from single protei ns can be detected and localized on the nanometer scale.
