Preparation and characterization of factice by vulcanization of oil ex
tracted from Putranjiva roxburghii, a fairly abundant plant of the tro
pical Indian subcontinent, is presented. This information serves as a
processing aid for substituting commercially available factices. Mecha
nical and thermal studies of this new type of factice, blended with ru
bber, showed higher thermal stability and improved processing characte
ristics during extrusion and calendering operations compared to rubber
without factice.
