Abstract
Exercises designed to encourage active learning and critical thinking in the history of psychology course are described. Students read origi nal book and journal material and respond to questions that elicit ana lysis and comparisons. Basic steps in completing the exercises are lis ted, and the nature of student responses is illustrated.
