Ja. Johannessen, BASIC FEATURES OF AN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION-SYSTEM AIMED AT PROMOTING ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING, Systems practice, 8(2), 1995, pp. 183-197
The purpose of this article is to design the basic features of an info
rmation and communication system in order to promote organisational le
arning. The purpose is, further, to categorise the concept of learning
to prevent errors of categorisation in connection with organisational
learning. The article is, in accordance with this purpose, clearly no
rmative. First, we weave together parallel currents in organisational
learning, by referring to sources influencing these currents. We categ
orise three currents of learning: the system-theoretical, the classica
l school of learning, and the strategic school of learning. Our contri
bution is linked mainly to the system-theoretical school of learning.
We then develop basic features of an information system aimed at the p
romotion of organisational Learning. Then we discuss basic features of
a communication policy, also focused on organisational learning. Fina
lly, we categorise organisational learning at four levels.
