Abstract
The incidence of liver fluke infestation in various food animals from 1987 to 1991 was recorded as follows: in cattle 6.5, 5.8, 4.8, 4.17, 5 .08 %; in buffalo 3.53, 2.74, 2.29, 3.8, 5.1 %; in sheep 1.1, 1.4, 1.5 2, 0.96, 1.72 %; in goats 0.14, 0.52, 0.79, 0.78 %; these figures repr esent the years 1987 to 1991 respectively. In general the overall prev alence of fasciola infestation amongst food animals was 1.55%. Cattle were the worst infested, the lowest figures being recorded for goats. Fascioliasis was found to be most prevalent during the winter.
