S. Cole et al., THERMOACOUSTIC PROPERTIES OF METHYL-ESTERS OF N-ALKANOIC ACIDS, Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 72(6), 1995, pp. 687-691
A number of thermoacoustic parameters, including the Sharma constant S
-0, the isochoric temperature coefficient of volume expansivity (d In
alpha/d In T)(V), the isochoric temperature coefficient of internal pr
essure (d InPi/d In T)(V), reduced I volume V, reduced compressibility
beta and the Huggins parameter F, are estimated by using only the vol
ume expansivity alpha from the density temperature data for a number o
f methyl esters of n-alkanoic acids. The methyl esters give excellent
separation of saturated fatty acid mixtures. The Sharma constant, whic
h relates the molecular constant n and other thermoacoustic parameters
, is a constant with a characteristic value of 1.11 + 0.01 for all the
se esters.
