Abstract
A new gear mesh interface dynamic model is developed which presents a true, three-dimensional representation of the forces and moments gener ated within and transmitted via a gear mesh interface. Force coupling effects due to vibratory changes in the instantaneous plane-of-action are included directly. The new formulation facilitates an examination of the many simplifying assumptions that have been made either explici tly or implicitly by prior investigators, thus allowing existing model s to be compared on a common mathematical basis.
