Abstract
Numerical simulation in flight sciences and space research is an extre mely compute-intensive task. Within the special research project SFB 2 59 several sub-projects are dealing with such numerical simulations in different fields of space research. It was clear from the beginning o f the SFB that such simulations can be performed only on powerful comp uting systems. The paper presented shows how parallel computing on a c luster of workstations helps to get compute-power. We will present the tools available for programming. Furthermore, the sub-projects that a re involved in the cluster-project will be discussed and results of th e efforts done in parallelizing are given.
