Abstract
Electr ochemical sensors are best suited for the detection of sub conc entrations of toxic gases. Typical use are in the detection of toxic a nd corrosive gases in the workplace through the use of portable and fi xed stationary monitors and stack gas monitoring for fugitive emission s. The following article will explain the principle of several amperom etric sensors and how varying electrical and chemical parameters can a ffect the sensitivity and selectivity. Finally, the potential of this technique to provide a continuous check of the sensors output function by the use of corresponding ac-impedance measurements will be demonst rated
