The present paper deals with the quantitative assessment of knowledge.
The article focusses on the development and validation of a system-sp
ecific knowledge-test aimed at the problem-solving scenario <<tailor s
hop>>. The method of content-valid test construction was chosen. The r
ationality of this choice is based on test-theoretical criteria as wel
l as on the applicability of this method for modern computer-based pro
blem-solving tasks. Above and beyond the test-theoretical explanations
and descriptions of the technical aspects of the test construction pr
ocess, the article focusses on the validation of the test in a study o
n 198 high school students and (for a part of the tasks) a replication
with about half of the original sample.
