The author's work on electrodeposit substructure in relation to the te
xture is reviewed. Addressed are substructure anisotropy in electrodep
osits and the axial and the random components of their texture, period
icity of the substructure with increasing nuclear charge of constituen
t atoms, regular variation in the substructure with increasing superco
oling in the electrodeposition, and occurrence of an amorphous state d
uring electrocrystallization of metals. Inter-relation between the sub
structure and the texture in electrodeposits, and the influence of str
ucture on electrodeposit properties are also discussed.
