Abstract
This is the first article to explain and illustrate the HgCdTe and oth er infrared (IR) material status in the Ukraine. It develops the backg round needed to understand the what and where of IR physics, devices, and materials, but does not pretend to be a comprehensive treatment of the subject as some data still remain classified.
