As. Halpern et al., PREDICTING PARTICIPATION IN POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION FOR SCHOOL LEAVERS WITH DISABILITIES, Exceptional children, 62(2), 1995, pp. 151-164
This study examined predictors of participation in postsecondary educa
tion for school leavers with disabilities, using instruments procedure
s, and logistic regression analyses that were used in an original stud
y. Both studies found six predictors to be associated with participati
on in postsecondary education: (a) high scores on a functional achieve
ment inventory (b) completing instruction successfully in certain rele
vant curricular areas, (c) participating in transition planning, (d) p
arent satisfaction and (e) student satisfaction with instruction recei
ved by the student, and (f) parent perception that the student no long
er needed help in certain critical skill areas.
