Abstract
A new scanning fluorescence microscope with the two-photon excitation in deep UV region and the detection in near UV region is developed. Th e advantages of the two-photon scanning microscopy are discussed to sh ow the importance of its application in UV region. A practical configu ration of the new microscope consisting af the second harmonic (532 nm ) of a mode-locked Nd-YAG laser, a pulsed-dye laser (630 nm) with Kito n Red, and a CCD camera with an image intensifier is given. Several ex perimental results to verify the usefulness of the microscope are show n.
