Abstract
The paper addresses issues arising in integrated design of processes, explores their systems and control theory dimension, specifies the rel evant concepts and theoretical tools and indicates the areas where wor k is needed. In doing so, a systems and control theory structural fram ework emerges for studying problems of integrated design. This framewo rk explores the structural features of the underlying process models a nd highlights the evaluation of such characteristics as we move throug h the successive stages of design.
