This study is based on data collected from faculty of a comprehensive university located in the rural Southwest regarding their view of coll ective bargaining in institutions of higher learning. Five major issue s identified in literature as significant determinants of faculty perc eptions: personnel, compensation, governance, union image, and work en vironment are examined. The result confirms the importance of personne l, governance and compensation as significant determinants. Interestin gly this study points to work environment, faculty satisfaction, and r elationship with superiors as even more important in coloring faculty attitude toward collective bargaining.
