Abstract
The report presents a needs assessment design to identify the training needs of complex diagnostic tasks at flexible manufacturing systems. it is shown how contents and methods for strategic diagnosis trainings are derived from derailed cognitive needs assessments. The design inc ludes an analysis of organisational and technological structures, an a ctivity and needs analysis of maintenance task, an analysis of relevan t fault cases, a strategy and knowledge analysis and an expertise stud y. Finally it is discussed how valid the used task and knowledge analy sis methods are for developing task oriented vocational trainings with complex cognitive demands.
