The authors report the development of a computer-aided simulation prog
ram to teach competence in fault diagnosis for prospective maintenance
personnel. The development and evaluation of the learning software un
derlies a prototyping strategy whose essentials are early user partici
pation, iterative procedure in dose cooperation with the designer ream
as well as evaluation of usability by prospective users. Result of th
e software development process is a runable and user-friendly version
of the computer-aided learning program.
