An. Georgobiani et al., PREPARATION AND PHYSICAL-PROPERTIES OF RARE-EARTH, ALKALINE-EARTH, AND TRANSITION-METAL TERNARY CHALCOGENIDES, Inorganic materials, 33(2), 1997, pp. 148-152
Current-voltage characteristics, temperature-dependent electrical cond
uctivity, and thermally activated depolarization currents were measure
d for single crystals of CaGa2S4, CaIn2S4, EuGa2S4, MnGa2Se4, and (Ga2
S3)(1-x)(Eu2O3)(x). The photoconductivity spectra of MnGa2Se4 and PbGa
2Se4 were obtained at different temperatures and electric fields. Char
ge transport in the chalcogenides studied is due to monopolar injectio
n at low injection levels (10(2)-10(3) V/cm) and to the Pool-Frenkel e
ffect in electric fields stronger than 10(3) V/cm. The photoluminescen
ce of these materials is associated with transitions on the Eu2+, Ce3, Mn2+, and Yb2+ ions.
