Abstract
Through the use of recurrence formulas the Polya-Eggenberger probabili ty mass function is shown to have at least seven different limiting fo rms: hypergeometric, beta binomial, binomial, negative binomial, Poiss on, logarithmic, and geometric. Other uses of recurrence formulas are also suggested. Compounding and convoluting are not treated in this ar ticle.
