Abstract
In the packaging, labelling, commissioning and dispatch sectors profes sional labelling and identification techniques form the basis of produ ct control and follow-up. The direct or indirect printing of packs and /or parcels is relevant here. Self-adhesive labels printed by the ther mo or thermotransfer process are those most often used. The machine-re adable bar code has been the most successful of known code structures. High-tech equipment with various capacities is now available and can also be integrated into automatic packaging lines.
