Abstract
METRIAREZ-beta and -gamma, two new derivatives of 5-mercapto-1,2,4-tri azole with beta- and gamma-resorcylic acids have been synthesized and their physicochemical and chelating properties determined. With metal ions having p and d electrons they form water-soluble coloured chelate s at L: M molar ratios of 1 : 1 with Cu2+ and Pb2+ (beta and gamma), H g2+ and Zn2+ (beta) and Cd2+, In3+ and Bi3+ (gamma) and 2 : 1 with Fe3 +, Fe2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ (beta and gamma) and Zn2+ (gamma). The chelates are non-extractable by organic solvents. The stability constants of t hese complexes, as well as their spectrophotometric sensitivity and ex tinction coefficients were determined. Iron and zinc in multivitamin t ablets were determined spectrophotometrically using the ligands.
