Methods for estimating defocus and aberration errors in sideband elect
ron holography are discussed. A modification of the Gerchberg-Saxton a
lgorithm is not successful, even in simulations, whereas minimization
search of image contrast works for simulations but not very successful
ly for experimental data. For crystalline objects, periodic continuati
on does allow avoidance of sampling difficulties in deconvolving the t
ransfer function.
