Abstract
Professor Boddewyn's discussion raises important issues about the soci al importance and objectivity of academic research. One major issue co ncerns the social relevance of the advertising research conducted by a cademics, which Professor Boddewyn contends is largely neglected by th e mass media. This neglect ''renders main-line advertising scholars ir relevant.''
