Abstract
A modified input-output (MIO) algorithm for the synthesis of computer- generated holograms is presented. The MIO algorithm corresponds to th input-output (IO) algorithm with a special adaptive gain Experimental results indicate that significant improvement is achievable with the M IO algorithm due to convergence to a very deep minimum. In the case of designing quantized phase holograms, no matter how many levels of pha se quantization are used, the MIO algorithm performs much better than the IO algorithm.
