Abstract
A number of studies have sought to answer the question: ''Do teacher s trikes affect students?'' The extant empirical evidence points to no c lear and consistent relationship between teacher strikes and student a chievement. In this study, ANOVA results suggested that students' test scores across a variety of standardized reading, language, and mathem atics tests did not significantly differ between Ohio school districts that had at least one teachers' strike, and districts that were strik e-free, during the period 1984 to 1990. OLS regression results also su ggested that strikes, per se, had no impact, positive or negative, on student achievement.
