Prescriptions for strategic decisions ultimately rest upon forms of ra
tionality. But which forms? More than 40 may now be identified within
the socioeconomic sciences. At the same time, in contemporary theories
of strategy and policy, there is much ambiguity concerning the nature
and identity of strategic-entities. Morphological analysis reveals a
need for meta-decision analysis, i.e., choosing rationalities, models,
and categories, together with transitional methodologies to help stra
tegic entities overcome the status quo bias in meta-decisions.
