R. Mcintosh et al., OBSERVATIONS OF STUDENTS WITH LEARNING-DISABILITIES IN GENERAL-EDUCATION CLASSROOMS, Exceptional children, 60(3), 1994, pp. 249-261
This study examined 60 general education teachers' classrooms, K-12, t
hat included students with learning disabilities. The study examined h
ow general education teachers' behaviors toward mainstreamed students
with learning disabilities compared with their behavior toward student
s without disabilities, and the interactions between students, and bet
ween students and teacher. Observations using the Classroom Climate Sc
ale indicated that few teacher behaviors and class room practices were
different for the two groups of students. However, differences were f
ound in student behaviors. Overall, students with learning disabilitie
s interacted with the teacher, other students, and classroom activitie
s at much lower rates than did other students.
