Abstract
Two analytical designs for the microbiological quantification of antib iotic residues were compared. Results of accuracy and precision of.a s implified design and a large plate design were evaluated for two antib iotics: tetracycline and benzylpenicillin. Results showed similar char acteristics for both systems. The coefficents of variation ranged from 2.2 to 3.76% for the simplified design and from 3.15 to 4.73% for the large plate system. The possibility of applying the microbiological q uantification to antibiotic residues in meat is also discussed.
