Abstract
We present two simulations of neural transmission for use in an Introd uctory Psychology class. These simulations illustrate the complex codi ng properties of a single neuron, especially how excitatory and inhibi tory postsynaptic potentials accumulate to produce an action potential . A follow-up exercise, using the framework of the simple children's g ame Musical Chairs, illustrates synaptic transmission, including the e ffects of psychoactive drugs at the synapse.
