Sg. Scott et Ra. Bruce, DETERMINANTS OF INNOVATIVE BEHAVIOR - A PATH MODEL OF INDIVIDUAL INNOVATION IN THE WORKPLACE, Academy of Management journal, 37(3), 1994, pp. 580-607
The present study integrated a number of streams of research on the an
tecedents of innovation to develop and test a model of individual inno
vative behavior. Hypothesizing that leadership, individual problem-sol
ving style, and work group relations affect innovative behavior direct
ly and indirectly through their influence on perceptions of the climat
e for innovation, we used structural equation analysis to test the par
ameters of the proposed model simultaneously and also explored the mod
erating effect of task characteristics. The model explained approximat
ely 37 percent of the variance in innovative behavior. Task type moder
ated the relationship between leader role expectations and innovative
behavior.
