Abstract
The research project ''Investigation into quality and residue problems with bee honey'' has for the first time evaluated honeys from the new German federal states - of various types and origins and harvested be tween 1989 and 1991 - with regard to quality parameters, obnoxious sub stance loading and pollen spectrum. Research results present a positiv e quality image for the bee honey coming from the five new federal sta tes. Proof has been established that no discernible deviations exist a s compared to bee honey from the old federal states, the yardstick bei ng criteria set up by the ''German beekeepers' association'' and the r egulation on ''German bee honey''. These results of the research proje ct may well contribute to tearing down prejudices that still exist amo ng filling stations in the original federal states as well as certain consumer groups. The consumer's right to be given a quality product as protected by the honey regulation and the quality guidelines of the G erman bee-keepers' association is safeguarded in the five new states a s well.
