ON THE USE OF SIMULATION METAMODELING IN SOLVING SYSTEMS AVAILABILITYPROBLEMS

Simulation metamodeling is increasingly applied in solving complex pro duction system problems. Though efficient simulation metamodeling depe nds on a sound simulation development and thorough knowledge of statis tical designs and techniques, these may often be overlooked by the les s sophisticated user. This paper investigates the process of simulatio n metamodeling, identifies its important characteristics and problems that the user should be aware of. Furthermore, an illustration and app lication to system availability modelling are introduced.
