Abstract
A causal model of the performance evaluation process was proposed and tested in this paper. The proposed conceptualization incorporated soci al, situational, affective, and cognitive elements as they affect perf ormance ratings, with particular emphasis on the role of subordinate i nfluence behaviors. LISREL results demonstrated that the proposed mode l fit the data well, and reflected a better fit than several alternati ve models that were estimated. The contributions and limitations of th e present study were discussed, in addition to challenges and directio ns for future research. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
