Kl. Mccrowell et Rj. Nagle, COMPARABILITY OF THE WPPSI-R AND THE S-B-IV AMONG PRESCHOOL-CHILDREN, Journal of psychoeducational assessment, 12(2), 1994, pp. 126-134
This study sought to establish concurrent validity between the Stanfor
d-Binet: Fourth Edition (S-B:IV) and the Wechsler Preschool and Primar
y Scale of Intelligence-Revised (WPPSI-R). Both tests were administere
d in a counterbalanced order to 30 preschool- children who were attend
ing a summer enrichment program. The results indicated that the Full-S
cale IQ of the WPPSI-R and the Composite SAS of the S-B:IV yielded sim
ilar scores. Additional findings suggest that although no significant
differences existed between the abstract/visual scales of both measure
s, a significant difference did exist between the two verbal scales. A
nalysis that compared the S-B:IV Factor scores to WPPSI-R IQs found th
e same pattern of results. The practical implications of these finding
s, and their usefulness for school psychologists who work with prescho
ol-aged children, are discussed.
