We report the results of a survey of 94 graduates of the Master of Edu
cation: Gerontology Option program at a southwestern university. The G
erontology Student Employment Survey was researcher developed and cont
ained 23 items. There was a 70.2% response rate from the mailed survey
s and a telephone follow-up. Results indicate that the majority (74.2%
) of graduates were female, and 63% considered their degree to have be
en beneficial to their careers. Of the 83% who were employed, 48.5% in
dicated that their jobs were highly related to the field of aging. Ope
n-ended questions yielded a wealth of qualitative information.
