One hundred eighty-four older adults were tested either in group sessi
ons or individually on a number of psychosocial and health-related mea
sures. Although participants in the two testing conditions did not dif
fer on most psychosocial variables, testing conditions did make a diff
erence for personality, perceived health, mental health scores, and th
e recall of life events. It seems important that investigators give te
sting conditions more consideration when studying older populations.
