METHODS OF SIMULTANEOUS PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF SILICA-GELS

Silica gels and aerosilogel of different starting porous structures we re modified with water vapour, aliphatic alcohols, propionic acid and with the mixture of water and individual organic substances. The effec t of temperature and composition of modifying mixture, as well as of m ode of carrying out the process, on the parameters of the starting ads orbents have been investigated. Possibilities of easy and gentle regul ation of silica gels porous structure have been demonstrated. The mech anisms of geometrical and chemical modification of silica adsorbents a re discussed.
