Abstract
Until now phase Doppler anemometry (PDA) could not be applied to inves tigate sprays of an optically inhomogeneous liquid. Optical inhomogeni ties result in a broadening of the measured particle size distribution s. In this paper a deconvolution method is proposed to compute the und erlying ''real'' distribution from the measured distribution. The tran sfer function needed for deconvolution is obtained by measuring the PD A size distribution of single-size droplets of the liquid under invest igation produced by a piezo-electric droplet generator.
