Abstract
A new organic nonlinear optical crystal 1-(3-thienyl)-3-(4-chloropheny l)-propene-1-one (CTC) with powder second harmonic generation (SHG) ef ficiency 3 times as large as that of KTP and cutoff wavelength of 410 nm is reported. Large single crystals (6 x 11 x 20 mm3) were grown fro m acetone by slow cooling. The crystal structure of CTC is determined.
