Abstract
Single crystal growth of six crystals achieved at low pressure in the International Microgravity Laboratory 1 and in the related ground base d experiments display an unexpected direct interaction between surface kinetics and vapour phase transport. The difference between the growt h rate distribution as a function of the flow, the orientation with re spect to the ampoule wall, the crystalline orientation, and the locati on and volume of crystals developed on walls allows determining the in fluence of gravity. Crystalline quality has been investigated by gamma -ray rocking curves on all space grown crystals and their seed. X-ray detection has been performed on the two largest crystals obtained.
